The Perks of Working in IT
This weekend I decided to have a geek weekend. The company I work for has Software Assurance with Microsoft on a few programs they license such as Office and Windows. This weekend I downloaded Windows Vista Enterprise from Microsoft and gave it a shot. I said goodbye to Windows XP and hello to Windows Vista. It installed basically without a hitch. Firefox does not seem to work very well with it but I will assume that will be fixed in due time. So for now I’m using Internet Explorer. So my geeky weekend went as follows. Friday I installed Vista and I have spent the rest of the weekend so far playing with its features. Last night I experimented with the voice recognition. It worked a lot better than I thought it would. I had a hard time having it write an email but if I want to spend more time on it I will. For now I don’t think it would be something I would use that often. However, it is fun to say “Start Internet Explorer” and it launches. I haven’t blogged in a while but I figured my geek weekend was blog worthy.
